​Easy Basics* is for owners who wish to teach their dog basic skills or improve upon what they already know. We aim to help you train your dog to be a well-mannered, friendly, fun companion to have around.

OUTDOOR BASICS

​

• Practise Easy Basics Pet Dog Obedience skills in a real-world situation

• Learn how to stop your dog running after squirrels, bikes, etc

• Put some rules into playtime

Building on the foundations laid in Easy Basics, we will help you work towards teaching your dog to more responsive to you when you are in public together. You will work on a field that is regularly frequented by dog walkers, but you will have the added safety margin of being surrounded by a barrier fence.

You will continue to practise lessons learnt in Easy Basics, at the same time as introducing and developing new training ideas, such as how to teach your dog to retrieve, or how to stop your dog at a distance from you.

Outdoor Basics is aimed at owners who would like to practise obedience skills in a controlled outdoor environment. Put your dog’s brain to work when on a walk, and discover that he’s more tired because of the extra stimulation.

​​​Dog agility can be a fast-paced, exciting sport, but many are happy just to have a bit of a laugh together. Either way, dog agility leaves you with a great sense of achievement and partnership with your dog. Plus, it keeps you both fit and on your toes!

​

The aim of agility is to negotiate a series of obstacles in a set order, and without making 'errors'. The agility course might include jumps, tunnels, a dog-walk, A-Frame or a see-saw, amongst other things.

Your dog will develop physical confidence and the ability to watch you carefully. You will develop a keen eye to know how you can influence and control your dog's movements around a space.

Agility is suitable for dogs and their owners who are physically fit and healthy, and are not reactive around dogs, people, kites, model airplanes, etc. Please be aware that the training takes place on a public field that is used by other clubs.

If you are unsure of the skill level required, why not try the taster session first? All that's required is a dog who is comfortable to be handled by a stranger, doesn't bark excessively or react aggressively towards other dogs, and will come back when called.  Stay (or Wait) will also be very useful, but not a necessity.
